Hunter Becomes The Hunted: Lamorde Set To Face Senate Over Corruption Charges

The immediate past chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Lamorde is set to appear before the Senate committee on ethics, privileges and public petitions.

The ousted EFCC chief was accused of diverting N1 trillion proceeds of corruption which was recovered by EFCC. The federal government through the Ministry of Justice directed that he be investigated over allegation of money diversion.

Lamorde who failed to appear before the committee last Tuesday, November 10, was incidentally was sacked by President Buhari on the same day. He will now appear before the committee tomorrow, November 17.

Recall that the committee met on the petition on August 26, where the petitioner, Dr. Uboh, presented his case before the senators and officials of the EFCC, led by the director of legal services, Mr. Chile Okoroma, were asked to leave the hearing venue at the National Assembly, sequel to Lamorde’s request for extension of time.

Commenting on his exit recently, Lamorde said: “As a human being, you have the right to disagree with someone, but if you disagree with your leader approach him yourself, instead of going out there to grumble.”
