Mr Dangote just Denies Sacking Workers Due To Recession

  Dangote Group of Companies has just denied reports that the disengagement of 48 workers from the company was due to economic recession in the country.

Mr Tony Chiejina, its Head of Corporate Affairs, disclosed in Lagos on Monday that the 36 expatriates workers formed the bulk of those disengaged.

He said that the expatriates were disengaged because of job overlap, while the 12 Nigerians that were affected were in the procurement department whose services were now redundant due to growth in the company.
Chiejina said that Dangote group was rather expanding its operations in spite of the recession and this expansion would fire more employments in the company.

The Nigerian Navy on Wednesday said it had impounded a wooden boat laden with 90 jerry cans of stolen petrol from suspected pipeline vandals at the Pashe creek in Badagry area of Lagos State. The Commander, Forward Operating Base of the Navy in Badagry, Capt. Simon Dogo, told journalists in Lagos that the seizure was made after the vandals abandoned the boat on sighting a naval team and fled. “My patrol teams went on patrol at Pashe creek when they saw perpetrators trying to load the petroleum products in a boat for transfer to Benin Republic. “The perpetrators, on sighting the naval team, jumped into water and fled.
